The Da Vinci Code: Mixing Facts With Fiction

Luke 1:1-4

Why bother preaching a series based on a fictional novel?

People are questioning where to draw the line between what is fact and fiction in this story.

Crucial Questions Are Raised About:

God

Jesus Christ

The Church

The Bible

Controversial Claims in The Da Vinci Code:

• The Bible was put together by the pagan Roman emperor, Constantine, in 325 A.D. at the Council of Nicea.

• The 4 Gospels have been edited to support the claims of later Christians. These gospels are just 4 among 80 or so other gospels (which have been suppressed by the church).

• Jesus is only a man, not the Son of God.

• Jesus was not viewed as God until the 4^th century.

• Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene.

• Mary Magdalene was pregnant when Jesus was crucified.

• Their offspring are alive today, a secret kept by the Priory of Sion.

• The Catholic Church often has assassinated the descendants of Christ to keep his bloodline from growing.

• Mary Magdalene herself is the “Holy Grail.”

• Mary Magdalene appears in Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
