Our Secretary – Marcia Lunn

marcia-21I grew up with 4 sisters and 3 brothers, living in the country on a farm, in north-central Iowa. I milked cows, drove the tractor when baling hay and co-drove the truck with my brother.  I did not like to gather eggs as the chickens always pecked me! Herded cows & sheep. When I started high school my parents sold their farm, bought a business in a very small town, and my graduating class only had 30 in it! I moved to St. Charles/Peters in 1979 and to St. Louis in 1985.  I attended Lindenwood University and St. Louis Community College studying Business Management and Accounting.
I have had a successful Mary Kay Cosmetics business for 15 plus years and find it a tool that God uses to break the ice when sharing my love of Him with others.
I have traveled to Nicaragua 3 times between 1993 and 1998 to help with a mission group in a village called Mulukuku.  I would love to go back someday.  In the meantime, I help fund the local Clinic.
I love singing and doing outdoor things:  gardening, building, fishing, walking on nature trails, mowing the lawn–sometimes my husband has to put up a giant light in the yard so that I can finish a project that night!
I was hungry for the Word.  More. Deeper.  Looking for a part-time job, I applied.  I found the job I needed, but God had a better plan…He was leading me here to be fed!  I first attended the 40 Days of Purpose and was hooked.  This was what I was looking for!
Ministry is important to me as it calms me.  If you do something you love, it isn’t work!  Take gardening for example, I would love to be out on the church yard, cutting it, planting, moving, cleaning up.  But then the church bulletin would never get finished!  I feel the same when I sing about or to the Lord.

Our Worship Leader – Ashley Gase

Ashley Gase - newHi! My name is Ashley Gase. I’ve been living here in the Saint Louis area since December 2008. My husband’s job brought us and our 3 children here from Cincinnati, OH, and we love it here! I have been in the Covenant denomination since the age of 7, and have participated in worship teams since age 14 or so.

Worship is everything! True worship is not confined to singing in church or open praise (although these things are good and we are told to do them in the Bible), but it is the heartfelt acknowledgment of God and all His power and glory in the things we do. To truly worship God, we must know Him and not be ignorant to His good and glorious nature (Acts 17:23). In a nutshell, worship is to glorify and exalt God; to show our loyalty and admiration to our Heavenly Father! Worship can include praying, reading God’s Word with an open heart, singing, participating in communion, and serving others. It’s not limited to one act, but is done properly when the heart and attitude of the person is in the right place. Worship is done for God, and God’s pleasure alone.

As for my human inspiration, King David is my hero. He had a pure and grateful heart towards God and worshipped Him with the entirety of his being. Many of the Psalms reflect David’s passionate heart for worship. “It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your loving kindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night” (Psalm 92:1-2). I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised… (Psalm 18:3a). Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable (Psalm 145:3). David was a man after God’s own heart, because he truly glorified God in his heart!

It is my desire, as the worship leader here at CCC, to lead God’s people into a deep, meaningful, personal worship experience; to create an atmosphere that the Holy Spirit moves in freely and to facilitate an environment where we can see, feel, hear, and worship God in new ways.
